The birds have been the loveliest new animals we've
seen. The seagulls are not so different, but the tui and bellbird have
a song unlike anything we've heard. The pretty singers are just a little
camera shy.

I keep hoping to see some slugs since this
is such a lush climate, fairly similar to Portland. But there just
haven't been any. Here I am pointing to a spot where, by all rights,
there should be a slug, but there isn't.
